PRACTICUM 2
Assistant Teacher for K1 Class | November 2020 - December 2020
Teaching Responsibilities:
During my 1 month practicum experience at PCF Sparkletots, I effectively engaged in curriculum planning and fulfilled my teaching responsibilities for the K1 class with 20 children.
To move the children forward in their language, numeracy, and motor skills development, I customized lesson plans and created teaching aids by applying what I have learnt in school, such as providing concrete materials for the children, and learning through play.
Language & Literacy in-cooperating arts & crafts, Numeracy in-cooperating motor skills, and Motor skills lesson were all planned to help children meet their developmental goals.
The classroom were designed with a sensorial and interactive solar system to fit into the theme of outer space. Additionally, a birthday graph and attendance chart were created to ensure that children have daily interactions with the numeracy skills being taught.
What I learnt:
-
Lesson Planning
-
Classroom Management
-
Being Flexible
-
Thinking on the Spot
Additional Responsibilities:
On top of my assignments, I was given the opportunity to plan arts & crafts activities for the K1s, N2s, N1s, and PGs to engage in.
Furthermore, I assisted the K2 form teacher whenever she is in need of help.
I planned a total of 5 activities for the K1 class. "Water Reveal", "Ornament Making", "Building A Snowman", "Card Making", "Christmas Tree Designing".
The activities were all planned using only materials that I could find in the classroom.
The children had a blast and kept asking for more activities for them to engage in.
